How to release a Telugu song: Spotify, JioSaavn, Telugu playlists and Sankranti timing

By the SUF Digitals team · Updated

Yes, you can release a Telugu song on Spotify, JioSaavn, Apple Music, YouTube Music and 150+ other stores, with caller tunes on Jio, Airtel, Vi and BSNL included. Choose Telugu under All languages when you create the release on SUF Digitals, and the stores list it as Telugu. Lambadi (Banjara) songs can be released too: choose Lambadi under More Indian languages, and the stores list them under Hindi.

Yes, you can release your Telugu songs everywhere

Telugu is the first language of about 8.1 crore people (Census 2011), India's fourth largest scheduled language. It belongs to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, is spoken in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Puducherry, and travels with more than 4 lakh Telugu Americans and with families in Australia, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia and the UK.

Tollywood film music sets the pace, and since Baahubali its soundtracks have carried Telugu across India. On 23 October 2026, 32 of the 50 songs in Spotify's Hot Hits Telugu carried a film tag, the highest share of the five Hot Hits lists we checked. Folk singles have lists of their own too, such as Telugu Folk Songs on Spotify and JioSaavn.

A single SUF Digitals release goes to Spotify, JioSaavn, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Amazon Music, Gaana, Instagram, Facebook and 150+ stores worldwide, and it can be a caller tune on Jio, Airtel, Vi and BSNL at no extra cost.

How to release a Telugu song with SUF Digitals

Here is the whole Telugu song release, from sign-up to release day. SUF is based in Panipat, Haryana, and artists anywhere in India can join, with no follower or stream minimum.

  1. Sign up for SUF Digitals and pick a plan. Plans start at Rs 999 a year before GST, and every plan leaves 100% of your copyright with you.
  2. Add your artist name and your Spotify and Apple Music profile links. On a first release, mark yourself new to the stores, and your artist pages are created along with it.
  3. Create the release and set the language for the release and each track. Telugu sits under "All languages" and is listed as Telugu. Lambadi sits under "More Indian languages": it goes to the stores under Hindi, where the Census groups it, and your release keeps Lambadi with us. If you want the song listed under Telugu, choose Telugu instead.
  4. Upload your master as WAV or FLAC (16 or 24 bit, 44.1 to 96 kHz) with a 3000 x 3000 pixel square cover in JPG or PNG. The free cover art checker runs the same checks before you submit.
  5. Credit the singers, composers, lyricists and producers, declare the song rights and set the date. Rising and higher plans let you choose the release date; on Debut it is set 7 days after you submit.
  6. Submit. SUF checks the release against the stores' rules before it goes out, and on release day your free smart link opens the song in whichever music app each fan uses.

Telugu playlists on Spotify, JioSaavn and Apple Music

The stores run Telugu playlists for hits, folk, devotion and festivals. This is what we found in October 2026:

Spotify has tuned its recommendations for Telugu listeners since its India launch in 2019, and Telugu is one of JioSaavn's radio languages. The Top 50, Most Searched and Most Played lists are charts that follow listening; the others are chosen by editors, which is where a pitch comes in.

SUF's editorial pitching starts on the Pro plan and covers Pro, Signature, Label Pro and Label Enterprise. We pitch to editors at Spotify, Apple Music, JioSaavn, Gaana, Amazon Music and YouTube Music, including those who run the Telugu lists above, and an EP or album can be pitched as a whole. Lock the release 14 days or more before release day, since Spotify only looks at songs pitched at least 7 days ahead. Editors decide, nothing is guaranteed and SUF never buys streams or playlist spots: read about playlist pitching.

Telugu titles, script and spelling

Telugu (తెలుగు) is written in its own script, and in Perso-Arabic by some writers in Hyderabad. On the stores, though, titles are in Roman letters: all 50 in Spotify's Hot Hits Telugu and all 47 in JioSaavn's Telugu Top 50 on 23 October 2026.

Type your title in Roman letters, as a fan would search for it, and share the Telugu-script version in the release description and your YouTube and Instagram captions. Keep emoji, ALL CAPS, "feat." and words like Official, Lyrical, Video Song, Latest, New Song and Trending out of the title.

Your artist name goes in English letters; the form takes letters, numbers, spaces and . ' & ( ) - only. Use the same spelling on every release, since a second spelling creates a second artist page, and make the words on your cover art match the title and artist name.

When Telugu songs are in demand

Sankranti in mid-January is the biggest release window for Telugu films, so it brings a wave of new soundtracks. Ugadi, the Telugu new year in late March or early April, has JioSaavn's Happy Ugadi, and Bathukamma, Telangana's nine-day flower festival in September or October, has Bangaru Bathukamma. Vinayaka Chavithi, in August or September, is another peak.

Fans search for a "Telugu song release date", so fix yours early. On Pro and above, lock the release at least 14 days before release day so it can be pitched, and three to four weeks before a festival is better: mid-December for Sankranti, early March for Ugadi, late July for Vinayaka Chavithi and late August for Bathukamma.

Telugu folk, devotional and traditional songs

Telugu folk ranges from Burra Katha, sung storytelling, to Bathukamma songs invoking the goddesses, Janapadam village songs and Bhava Geethalu, light poetry set to music. Most Carnatic compositions are in Telugu or Sanskrit, from Annamacharya, Tyagaraja and Bhadrachala Ramadas, and songs to Venkateswara, Ayyappa and Ganapathi fill the devotional side.

Each track is declared as original, cover, traditional or public domain, or remix. A village folk song or a centuries-old kirtana belongs to everyone, so mark it "Traditional or public domain", as long as the recording is yours. A DJ remix of someone else's recording needs that recording owner's permission, and a cover of a film song needs the song owner's licence.

Only original songs with no samples or non-exclusive beats go on YouTube Content ID, never traditional ones. Our guides to devotional music and cover songs go further.

Lambadi (Banjara) songs

Lambadi, also called Lambani, Lamani, Banjari or Gor Boli, is the language of Banjara communities across India, from Telangana, where primary schools have Lambadi textbooks, to Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Rajasthan. About 48.6 lakh people gave Lambadi, Lamani or Banjari as their mother tongue (Census 2011), and the Census groups them under Hindi, which is how the stores list a Lambadi release from SUF.

Lambadi has no script of its own, and every song tagged "lambadi" that we checked on JioSaavn had a Roman-letter title. Some Lambadi songs already on JioSaavn are tagged Telugu; choose Telugu if that is where you want yours.

Teej is one of the Banjara community's biggest festivals, defined by women's songs, so lock a Teej release three to four weeks ahead. We found no store-run playlist just for Lambadi (as of October 2026), but from the Pro plan up a pitch still reaches editors of wider Indian and folk playlists, and your fans' plays feed Release Radar, Daily Mix and Discover Weekly on Spotify. Put your Banjara song album name and release date in every post, because those are the words fans search with.

Questions Telugu artists ask

Can I upload a Telugu song on Spotify?

Yes. Choose Telugu under All languages when you create your SUF Digitals release, and it goes to Spotify, JioSaavn, YouTube Music, Apple Music and 150+ more stores as a Telugu song. Plans start at Rs 999 a year before GST.

How do I get my song on Hot Hits Telugu or Telugu Folk Songs?

Spotify's editors pick those songs, so no one can promise a place. From the Pro plan up SUF pitches your release to them, as long as it is locked at least 14 days before release day.

Can I release a Lambadi or Banjara song?

Yes. Choose Lambadi under More Indian languages; the stores list it under Hindi, and your release keeps Lambadi with us. Choose Telugu instead if you want it listed under Telugu.

Can I release a DJ remix of a Telugu folk song?

Yes, with the right permission. Remixing another artist's recording needs that owner's permission, while a traditional folk song you record yourself is marked Traditional or public domain.

Can I release Telugu songs from the USA?

Yes. Telugu was the fastest-growing language in the US from 2010 to 2017, and artists there can join SUF; payouts go by SWIFT bank transfer or PayPal.

Will my Telugu song work as a caller tune?

Yes. Jio, Airtel, Vi and BSNL caller tunes come with every plan at no extra cost, and the song earns every month a listener keeps it as their caller tune.
