How to release Garhwali, Kumaoni and Jaunsari songs: Spotify, JioSaavn and caller tunes
By the SUF Digitals team · Updated
Yes. SUF Digitals releases Garhwali, Kumaoni and Jaunsari songs to Spotify, JioSaavn, YouTube Music, Apple Music and 150+ stores, with caller tunes on Jio, Airtel, Vi and BSNL, from Rs 999 a year plus GST. Choose Garhwali or Kumauni under "All languages" in the release form, or Jaunsari under "More Indian languages", and your song goes out sung exactly as you recorded it.
Yes, Uttarakhand's songs can go on every store
About 24.8 lakh people gave Garhwali as their mother tongue in Census 2011, and about 20.8 lakh gave Kumauni, the Census spelling of Kumaoni; the Census groups both under Hindi. Jaunsari, from Jaunsar-Bawar in Dehradun district, had about 1.4 lakh speakers.
Garhwali is spoken in Tehri, Pauri, Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Rudraprayag, and by Garhwali families from Delhi and Chandigarh to Maharashtra. Kumaoni is spoken around Almora, Nainital and Pithoragarh, and in Doti in western Nepal.
The music runs from jagar and Pandav Lila, danced to live dhol-damau, to Garhwali folk-pop and ghazal, and Kumaon's "Bedu Pako Baro Masa" is often called Uttarakhand's cultural anthem. One SUF release carries your song to Spotify, JioSaavn, YouTube Music, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Gaana, Instagram, Facebook and 150+ stores, and caller tunes on Jio, Airtel, Vi and BSNL are included on every plan.
How to release a Garhwali, Kumaoni or Jaunsari song
Searches like "Garhwali song upload kaise kare" and "Kumaoni song upload YouTube" all come down to these steps, and YouTube Music is one of the stores the release reaches.
- Create an account on SUF Digitals and choose a plan. Prices start at Rs 999 a year before GST, and every plan leaves 100% of your copyright with you.
- Add your artist name with your Spotify and Apple Music profile links. For a first release, mark yourself new to the stores so your artist pages are made with it.
- Create a release and choose the language for the release and every track. Garhwali and Kumauni (the stores' spelling of Kumaoni) are under "All languages". Jaunsari is under "More Indian languages": the stores have no Jaunsari category yet, so they list the song under Garhwali, and your release keeps Jaunsari with us.
- Upload a WAV or FLAC master at 16 or 24 bit and 44.1 to 96 kHz, plus a 3000 x 3000 pixel square cover in JPG or PNG. Test the cover free with the cover art checker.
- Credit the singers, composers, lyricists and producers, declare each song's rights and choose the release date: yours to pick from the Rising plan up, or set for you on Debut, 7 days after you submit.
- Submit. Each release is checked against the stores' rules first, and on release day your free smart link sends fans straight to the song in their own music app.
Garhwali and Kumaoni playlists on Spotify, JioSaavn and Apple Music
We found no store-run playlist just for Garhwali, Kumaoni or Jaunsari as of October 2026, and JioSaavn's language pages do not include them. The Garhwali playlists we came across on Spotify were made by listeners, not by Spotify.
A pitch still does real work. From the Pro plan up, SUF pitches your release to the editors at Spotify, Apple Music, JioSaavn, Gaana, Amazon Music and YouTube Music, which puts a Garhwali or Kumaoni song in front of the people who build their wider Indian, folk and devotional playlists. A whole EP or album can be pitched together.
Your own fans help too, because their listening feeds Spotify's algorithmic playlists: Release Radar, Daily Mix and Discover Weekly. Lock the release at least 14 days before release day, as Spotify only considers songs pitched a week or more ahead. Editors have the final say, there is no promise of a placement, and SUF never buys streams or playlist spots (playlist pitching).
Titles, script and spelling in the hills
Garhwali, Kumaoni and Jaunsari are all written in Devanagari, and Jaunsari also had its own Dhankri script in the past. Listener playlists on Spotify mix Roman and Devanagari names, but the stores should get a Roman-letter title, spelled the way fans type on a phone.
Kumaoni has two spellings in common use, Kumaoni and Kumauni, and the release form uses Kumauni. Put both in your YouTube and Instagram captions and in the release description, with the Devanagari title alongside.
Titles carry no emoji, ALL CAPS, "feat." or promo words such as Official, Lyrical, Video Song, Latest, New Song or Trending. Write your artist name in English letters, one spelling everywhere, because a second spelling becomes a second artist page; the words on the cover must match the title and name.
When Garhwali and Kumaoni songs are in demand
Harela, at the start of the monsoon, is a big singing time in both regions. In Garhwal people carry the village deity out and sing and dance, and in Kumaon musicians and dancers perform together. Pandav Lila, danced to live music, comes round mainly at festivals.
On Pro and above, lock your release at least 14 days before release day so it can be pitched, and lock a Harela song three to four weeks before the festival.
Folk, devotional and traditional songs
Garhwali folk includes jagar, chaumasa, thadya, mangal, bhadiyali and panwara, and devotional themes run through much of it. Kumaoni has mandals for ceremonies, martial panwaras, khuded, thadya, jhoda, chhapeli and the ballad of Rajula Malushahi.
An old folk song belongs to everyone, so release your own recording and mark it "Traditional or public domain" in the rights step. The recording itself must be yours. A cover of a modern Garhwali or Kumaoni song needs the song owner's licence, and a remix needs the original recording owner's permission (cover songs).
Only original songs with no samples or non-exclusive beats go on YouTube Content ID. Traditional songs such as jagar never do.
Garhwali, Kumaoni and Jaunsari at a glance
Listing a Jaunsari song under Garhwali changes only the store's language field: your title, artist name and audio stay exactly as you made them. If you would rather it be listed under a different store language, choose that language instead.
| Language | Where it is spoken | Language picker | Stores list it as |
|---|---|---|---|
| Garhwali | Garhwal division of Uttarakhand, and Garhwali families across India | All languages | Garhwali |
| Kumaoni | Kumaon division of Uttarakhand, and Doti in western Nepal | All languages (as Kumauni) | Kumauni |
| Jaunsari | Jaunsar-Bawar: Kalsi, Chakrata and Tyuni in Dehradun district | More Indian languages | Garhwali |
Questions Uttarakhand artists ask

How do I upload a Kumaoni song on YouTube Music?
Release it through SUF with Kumauni as the language. YouTube Music is one of the stores every release reaches, along with Spotify and JioSaavn.
Is there a Kumaoni playlist on Spotify?
We found no Spotify-run Kumaoni playlist as of October 2026. From the Pro plan up, SUF still pitches your song to Spotify's editors for their wider Indian and folk playlists, and your fans' plays feed Release Radar and Daily Mix.
How do I release a Jaunsari song?
Choose Jaunsari under "More Indian languages" in the release form. The stores list it under Garhwali for now, and your release keeps Jaunsari as its language with us.
Can I release a traditional jagar or folk song?
Yes, as your own recording. Mark it "Traditional or public domain" in the rights step; traditional songs do not go on YouTube Content ID.
Can my Garhwali song be a caller tune?
Yes. Caller tunes on Jio, Airtel, Vi and BSNL are included on every SUF plan in every language, and a song kept as someone's caller tune earns each month.
